Print Room Portal

A production portal for The Print Room — the largest project of my career — covering the full journey from product selection and quoting to live production tracking.

Next.js · React · TypeScript · Supabase

Print Room Portal garment selection and design-start flow.
The opening flow keeps garment choice visual and immediate.

The Print Room runs custom garment decoration where orders used to live across email chains, supplier notes, and disconnected status updates.

The portal brings that lifecycle into one system: customers choose products, start designs, approve quotes, and watch production progress without asking anyone.

Designed and built the portal end to end: product flows, quoting, production tracking, and the customer-facing language throughout.

Key decisions

  • Made the product grid visual first so garment choice happens before form complexity arrives.
  • Split the journey into a design-start surface and a separate tracking surface instead of forcing both jobs into one screen.
  • Used plain production language so status changes read clearly without sounding internal.

Key challenges

  • Keeping supplier and garment data readable without making the UI feel operational or heavy.
  • Showing live order status in a way that feels useful instead of vague.
  • Balancing trust, clarity, and pace across an order lifecycle that can be messy behind the scenes.

Key iterations

  • Refined the product card hierarchy so the start action stays obvious.
  • Reduced the tracking flow to a small set of stages that still feel concrete.
  • Turned dense production details into short summaries, dates, and milestones a customer can actually scan.
Print Room Portal quote approval and production tracker.
The tracker turns production status into something a customer can read at a glance.

What exists now

  • A visual product-selection surface for starting a design.
  • A customer-facing quote and approval state.
  • A production timeline framing milestones, delivery, and updates in one place.

What works

  • Customers understand their order without emailing for status.
  • Order state and next steps are clearer than a generic status email or admin dashboard.
  • The portal is in real use at The Print Room, not a concept.

What I'd do next

  • Connect more supplier edge cases, strengthen data sync, and harden the approval-to-production handoff.

Production does not need to feel mysterious. The point of this work was to make the handoff visible, not magical.
