Helmet Made

A fashion site concept that treats browsing like opening a small printed object rather than skimming an endless feed.

Next.js · CSS

Helmet Made site concept landing screen.
The landing direction is image-led, sparse, and brand-heavy.

The project needed a presentation style that felt authored and tactile. A flat ecommerce rhythm would have made the work feel generic too quickly.

The direction here was to let identity, image, and movement carry more of the experience, and to test a book-like interaction as the framing device.

Designed the visual direction, built the front-end concept, and developed the book-style interaction used to frame the site.

Key decisions

  • Anchored the project around a strong mark and treated it as navigation, not decoration.
  • Used a book-like interaction to slow the browsing rhythm and make the site feel held.
  • Kept the interface sparse so the imagery and identity did the heavy lifting.

Key challenges

  • Making the interaction feel tactile without becoming gimmicky.
  • Balancing softness and structure across the brand language.
  • Keeping the site concept expressive while still readable as a real product direction.

Key iterations

  • Explored the mark across multiple arrangements before fixing the final wordmark behaviour.
  • Tightened the landing composition so the identity and image are not fighting each other.
  • Reduced the interaction to one simple book gesture instead of building extra motion for its own sake.
Helmet Made brand and wordmark explorations.
Identity exploration became part of the site language, not a separate exercise.
Helmet Made mark asset.
A small mark still carries the mood of the wider project.

A simple cover-to-spread motion is enough to prove the interaction without turning it into a spectacle.

What exists now

  • A site concept with a clear landing direction.
  • A brand system that already knows how it wants to behave on screen.
  • A lightweight book interaction that proves the browsing idea instead of only describing it.

What works

  • The project feels authored rather than templated.
  • The interaction reinforces the concept instead of distracting from it.
  • The identity, screenshot, and motion direction now read as one system.

What I'd do next

  • Extend the same interaction logic across product views and tighten the transition between identity and commerce.

The useful test for this project was whether browsing could feel held and deliberate. The book interaction makes that idea visible.
